To be honest, I did screw up the DB but, I did have a backup which I was able to recover. It is easy to add but modifying the objects in the table once there are relationships is where things can go sideways. The only table I am able to modify successfully is the RackObject table. The other tables seem Greek to me. Future reference to my issue: For some reason the File and the Filelink tables got corrupted when I was importing the RackObject table. It did not make any sense to me why those two tables got corrupted. With help from one of the Racktable users, I was able to check each table and figure out which ones were corrupted. These two table being corrupted caused some of the links to break and also search did not work at all. I had to restore from backup to fix my issue. Then I exported the RackObject table made the modification and added additional items and imported back and it worked great with no corruptions. I am going to the smart thing and hand the racktables database support to our DBAs. Yea ... I was doing the same with phpMyAdmin .... but it seems a bit brute force and doesn;t take into account all the relationships like ports ... IPs ... etc ... I figure, left on my own I could screw up the database royally ..... :-) On Wed, Sep 30, 2009 at 6:16 PM, Dahlstrom, Kishore M. Has anyone came up with a good method for bulk uploading ??? Given I have a bunch of spreadsheets with all my assets .. that I can export in almost any possible format .... looking for an easy way to pump that all in without going through the UI ....
