The problem, in my opinion, with a fin on the back of the bike is that the bike articulates. Even if you keep the back of the bike like it was held in a vise if the front deviates it's over you go.

Another way to look at it is if the front gets sidways a bit the destabilizing pressure will rise very fast and it will be in front of the center of gravity. Since the bike is articulated (non-rigid) there is no way for a rear fin to "pressure" the front boom back into line like it would on a rigid car.
