[python] A nice ride

Hi all,
Today I made my longest ride yet with my 16" Monty. We were four
cyclists, two on regular recumbents (Optima Baron + Dalli Shark) and
two pythons (Dirk's Baby Python and me on my Monty) who rode from Malmö
to Ystad. Counting from my starting point I had about 90 km ride.
When we reached Ystad we had some food and drink and then the party
split. Jan-Inge and Christian went back the way we came and Dirk and I
went back by train. My BB had become loose and this made the chainring
twist and scrape the chain. The noise was bad and I was also afraid it
could develop into something more severe. Since we did not have the
necessary tools it was better to take the train. Dirk, I believe,
joined me on the train to keep me company.
With its 3 gear hub gear Monty is intended as a short distance/city
bike but I was glad to find out I had no problem keeping up with the
other guys at 30 km/h for long periods.
But I do become more tired from riding Monty than if I ride my
Hurricane. I believe I use some additional energy to keep the wheel
straight on course and also the balancing takes more energy than on a
regular recumbent.
But that I will perhaps overcome this in a couple of years time ;-)
Olaf
