I admit, I¹m puzzled by that too. Maybe the light output of two 500W bulbs
is not equal to one 1,000W bulb, but two bulbs certainly give more light
than one. Maybe Bruce can elaborate a bit.

I think you've got right there. I cannot get into Lux, Lums, Foot Candles
etc. but, 1000 W of illumination will not be gained by two 500 W bulbs.
