True enough, but it should at the very least, mirror reality.
But if that is all it does, it may be a great record of what was in
front of the camera at the time, but that would be all it was.
There was an idea that primitive tribes did not like to have their
photographs made because they were afraid a piece of their soul would be
taken. Perhaps they were right, but to be any good, a piece of the soul
of the photographer should be included as well.
Presumably, Salvadore Dali could make a photorealistic painting of that
was in front of his easel, but if that were all he could do, his work
would be forgotten already.
