Yes. Richard reminds me, in some ways, of Connie Sachs, a fictitious
character in John Le Carré' Karla stories*. She knew everything,
understood everything, forgot almost nothing. She also had faults from
which I very much doubt Richard suffers.

them, read them in that order. The first and third are beautifully acted
by Alec Guinness on BBC videos that can be purchased, and are free on
Youtube. They are about 6 hours long each, each in 6 one-hour pieces.
