In my early pre-coffee fog I added an extra zero – so yes, 1:100 dilution J

Hi Mike, Janet

Mike, do you mean 1:1000 or 1:100?

I use dilutions of 1:50 to 1:100 for FP4+ and HP5+. I agitate for 30 seconds,
then 5 seconds of gentle agitation every three minutes. I use 125 ml of
solution per 4x5 sheet (so 500 ml for a roll of 120). Densitometer tests
indicate that there's no change between 12 and over 20 minutes, so I presume
that the developer is exhausted by 12 mintues. Nevertheless, I develop for a
total of 16 minutes just to be sure.

I'm happy with the results. If nothing else, they seem to be consistent. I'm
not convinced that they're substantially different from those obtained with
more frequent agitation. Maybe every three minutes is too often to accrue the
acutance benefits. Or maybe I just don't make large enough prints to notice the
difference.

Because I develop to exhaustion, I presume that the temperature is less
critical than otherwise, although I always keep it within a degree of 20 deg.

I use Rodinal diluted 1:1000 for 20 minutes three inversions to start then an
inversion every 5 minutes, very good results, and while the negatives are sharp
there is a noticeable reduction in grain even with films like Tri-X. My
favorite combination for highly diluted Rodinal is Efke 25 which I have a
large stash in my freezer J

Any thoughts (anyone) on stand development as compared to with more frequent
agitation when using Rodinal with film? Thanks.
