When I bought my F4, my sole criteria was for the built in diopter ( and it had
to use my existent Nikon lenses.) I also was aging
and could no longer use my unmodified camera VF. At first, I got an 8008 for
AF. Then I realized that I was better at focusing
then the 8008. I never used the AF too much. Then I got the F4, just for the
diopter adjustment. Good choice as far as I am
concerned.....great camera.

It is quite amazing to be able to change the diopter adjustment on the fly if
your eyes are not stable.....

You're right Lloyd, that is a simple fact of aging
that requires us to adjust to the use of glasses, and
that we must "get over it", which we all do.

My own eyes are far-sighted, so I must use reading
glasses for close work. For spotting I bought one of
those visors with magnifiers like a jeweler might use.
(Mine is a cheap version, made of plastic). But it
works pretty well. The spot and the tip of the brush
are nicely magnified so that I can really get the
Spotone where I want it.
