It's useful to keep a notebook and enter information on each ingredient
as they are weighed out and added.  For example,

        tare x grams

That way you can double check your work and also identify an error
later.


Good advice. I'm pretty sure I measured the sulfite, though. This was a public experiment and someone commented upon the fact that the same chemical is used to make cheap wine. I almost forgot the carbonate before adding the potassium bromide, but in the end it didn't happen. I use a small electronic scale and tare isn't an issue either.
