Well, I’d run another careful test before condemning the lens. Certainly I’ve
made some mistakes in testing over the years… more than I care to remember!
And look for mis-alignment on the board or other physical flaws. It’s possible
that the lens suffered some damage in the past.
Schneider lenses have a fine reputation in general, and a “bad one” from the
factory would likely have been discovered long ago.
