I don't know anything about the reputation of this lens. Look
at the ground glass and see if the unsharpness is visible there.
Make sure the cells are fastened down.
The 101mm, f/4.5 Ektar is one of the sharpest lenses around
but the Tele-Xenar should not look blurred at normal
magnification if its not as sharp. You could have a bad one.

I recently got a 180mm f/5.5 Tele-Xenar for use with my "Baby" Speed
Grafic.
I've now shot a half dozen images with it and ... well ... the lens seems
noticeably less sharp than either my 101mm f/4.5 Ektar or 65mm f/8 Super Angulon
that I use on that camera.
Can any of you gentle geniuses chime in on this? It that lens known to
be a not great optical performer or do I just have a bad batch?
If I cannot conquer this, I am going to opt for 150mm lens as my "long"
lens because the smaller Speed Graphic would only barely focus an 8" lens
at infinity let alone anything closer.
