There are differences with the australian version to other models. You
cannot install US or UK firmware on the unit.
I have tried it will not work. The file names are different for the firmware
and therefore the australian models do not recognise US/UK firmware.
The PRS Pro software deal FS have with plextor is exclusive to FS and not
available from any other company.

That sounds good John. It was one of the questions I asked Plextor and
waiting to hear back.
They mentioned that there were differences between the Australian version
and others when I pointed out to them that the manual was missing the
podcasts and web radio chapters. I can't see any differences but I have
asked what differences and I am waiting on a reply. I don't want to void the
warranty and break the unit, don't think that will happen, but will wait for
an official okay to over-ride the firmware.

Hey: I think you can put any update on a PTP1 you choose, unless you have a
Japanese one. You can put the U.S. version 5.03 on your Australian one if
you like. John
