Greetings all,

I have made some progress but my unfamiliarity with Linux is hurting me. I
did manage to partition the drive and put Mandriva on the HD. The CPU box
seems to be working well, but the old monitor I found in the garage is a bit
blurry. Anyhow, I think I have a problem with the sound card(s). With the
PC I just put together from old parts, it has an Intel P III motherboard in
it. It has an integrated sound card on it. The Mandriva seems to recognize
it but I haven't been able to confirm that it is working with PskMail. I
disabled that sound card in the bios and added one to a slot and again
Mandriva seems to recognize it, but again no sound. The diagnostic routine
doesn't seem to give you any indication of sound.

So I booted from the CD on my Toshiba laptop and once again Mandriva seems
to recognize the sound card, but can't hear a thing, even though the sound
card works fine in Windows with MixW.

The pictures of the screens on the Wiki show a waterfall similar to the one
in MixW, but I have not seen it anywhere in my PSKMail software. Can
someone tell me how to test my soundcard with PskMail? I tried downloading
LinPsk to test the connection to the radio and have extracted the files but
haven't figured out how to execute the program.

Also I normally control my Elecraft K2 in MixW with a Cat control cable. I
guess I could use VOX but have never attempted that before. Is that how
PskMail puts the radio in transmit?

Steve, W2MY
