I'd recommend a reformatting of the system to see what happens. Then update the drivers to the latest if available since it is a newer laptop. A file could of gotten messed up if my hibernation theory is correct... First, I now know that the laptop is a Dell Studio 1555, 512mb v-card with 4gb ram. Today, though it was no warmer than it usually is, a BSOD flashed again. All my mom could read was something about a page error in a non-page area before the screen went blank and the machine re-booted. It again gave that cheery notice that booting into safe mode may let you recover some of your data, even though no data has been lost. My friend thinks it is a bios or driver problem. I have not yet gotten a look at the system log, but it was not too helpful yesterday so will likely not be again. Currently, the laptop is sitting on a desk with the newly installed Carbonite Backup program working to back up about 100gb, and has not had any problems. I wish I could know what program(s) were running/open when this happened. Would logs help here? Sorry for posting this to this list, but, again, I cannot figure out how to change my BGZ subscription to my new address.
