Hi, Few things: * It could be "page fault." * The read-only portion of the page table might have been locked due to XD (Execute Disable) functionality. If the Blue Screen of Death window displayed something about page error, it could be due to virtual memory/page management. Or it could be the ntoskrnl (Windows Kernel) might have encountered a serious error. Try restoring the notebook from the restore partition/DVD/CD and see what happens. Or, under Advanced Boot Menu, try enabling Debug mode. First, I now know that the laptop is a Dell Studio 1555, 512mb v-card with 4gb ram. Today, though it was no warmer than it usually is, a BSOD flashed again. All my mom could read was something about a page error in a non-page area before the screen went blank and the machine re-booted. It again gave that cheery notice that booting into safe mode may let you recover some of your data, even though no data has been lost. My friend thinks it is a bios or driver problem. I have not yet gotten a look at the system log, but it was not too helpful yesterday so will likely not be again. Currently, the laptop is sitting on a desk with the newly installed Carbonite Backup program working to back up about 100gb, and has not had any problems. I wish I could know what program(s) were running/open when this happened. Would logs help here? Sorry for posting this to this list, but, again, I cannot figure out how to change my BGZ subscription to my new address.
