Ya, you can get a house cheaper that way. That is how I bought my home. The 
houses are generally in need of some major work. If you can't do it 
yourself, there are no bargains here.

try to find out who handles repossessions and if they do it there, tax leans
on homes, one thing I remember someone saying about owning a house up there,
if it still holds true, is the (and this makes a hell of a lot more sense
than our flat rate) you fix the place up, the more they lower your taxes on
it within a range, needs to be limits, but it would certainly motivate folks
to neaten things if there able!
