oh, and a decent middle of the price range home in California will run you, depending on how close to either the beach or the mountains area's (less where I'm at in desert borderlands) is around 450000 US, for a two bedroom two bath house with a garage.
and 600000 is not an unseen thing around here as well, especially toward the beaches
