Amazon is a prime example. I can't seem to navigate any Amazon page when reading product info. Jaws seems to take about 10 seconds to move from one line to another. Its as if it is updating or somehow reprocessing the entire page every time I arrow down once. It drives me insane when trying to read user comments on a product. This doesn't happen on many other websites. WXP JFW9.

What gets annoying is if you go to certain stations to request and the page is so large that JFW just sort of freezes up on it. There must be a limit to the buffer as well.

Your correct but the point is if you create a virtual buffer in a better
compiled language you won't find it so slow. I know this because I have
been playing with web content lately and I can tell you that what they do in
Jaws is just short of carving the bible using a chisel and the face of a
mountain.

Now with that said as you will probably jump up and down and say Pearl is
not compiled and will rocket through web content fast as well. This is true but it is made for Text manipulation and I would rather write with pearl and
Window-eyes then this mess jaws has.

Maybe Gw will pay some of us to help Window-eyes catch up with jaws heck I might write a few just for a free version of Window-eyes if they would give
it to me snicker.

Jaws works slow in web apps not because its scripting language is slow, but because it needs to re-create its virtual buffer on every change on that web
app, and of course that if the current page is big, it takes much time.

But not the Jaws scripts do that, but the core of Jaws.

And the core of the web browser, of course. Even without Jaws, a very big
page, or one that uses much Javascript is harder to be used, but this is not
seen very well when using a mouse.

It is cool if Window Eyes will offer good support for scripting in more
languages, because it might be easier to find documentation for VB script,
or Perl script than for the Jaws' language.

I disagree with this when you start trying to make some really cool
functionality for example making web browsing better speed is important.
Just go to some really large pages with jaws and see what happens. So the faster you can crunch text the better. I can't wait to code stuff in lisp
for window eyes cackle.

C++ would definitely be faster. IL may be slower the first time
executed, since a compilation process occurs then. Thereafter, IL will
generally be faster than an interpreted language. For the purpose of
scripting a screen reader, however, I think speed is less important than
other factors.

That's what I've read also Jamal:
Would either IML produced by Visual Studio or Compiled code produced by
something like C++ run faster than a Script on Windows machines?
I have to think Compiled code would be faster and guessing IML would be
faster as well.

Windows installations typically include support for running VBScript and
JScript programs as part of the Windows Script Host.

Hi,
What compiler or interpreter is a Windows computer likely to have out of
the
box? I ask because anyone who would want to make WindowEyes scripts would
want to possibly distribute them to others.

Thanks.
