This is great news. I hope also to try out this engine soon.

Best,

We should have a first release by the summer. So far, our strategy, which isn't
perfect, is to do the following:

1. Support audio games through OpenAL.

2. Support visual 2D games through OpenGL.

3. Give you some tools to decide how to make a game accessible.

4. Make a bunch of curriculum for students at various levels.

Now, exactly how to make a game engine accessible and isn't at all easy to
figure out. If you have 3D shooters, there's certain strategies that might work
(we've tried a bunch internally). If you have maze games, there's other kinds
of strategies. For plain old GUIS through OpenGl, these don't connect to screen
readers typically, so we're trying to decide how to do that one. A number of
research groups have made individual games accessible, but making an entire
engine, and any game produced from it, at least moderately accessible, is a
major challenge.

What I would really like to do is, after we release the first version, is to
ask some folks from this community to try and make a game or two and tell us
how it goes. I suspect watching some folks try to make games with it could be
helpful as well, as we learn.

Just my thoughts,

Stefik

Last I checked Unity with Voice Over, it was not accessible.

My lab is building an accessible game engine right now, actually. Long
story ...

Hi!
People I was wondering if any of you has tried working with game
engines such as unity and whether it is acessible or not?
Do you people think it would be a good way to make audiogames' I've
worked with bgt before but no other gaming engines, though bgt is not
the only programming i've done.

Thoughts?
