Hi Richard,
I think you are right. I really think that Learning Python is a terrible book.
But I wanted to see if I could understand something I'm attempting to
understand if it were said another way. I'm looking at about three books at
once. I'm learning to step away before I get too frustrated.

Hi Jim,
That is a great book you are using to learn Python, but it can get a little
heavy at times.
My experience is that while loops run quite a bit slower in Python.

We were talking about this subject a little while back. In case it matters to
you, Learning Python, Third Edition says that for loops are faster than while
loops because for loops use c to speed them up. It says that while loops use
pure Python. This is my non-technical paraphrase of what I was just reading.
The same little section also says that for loops are easier to code and easier
to read.
