That really only works in word that I have found. If you select 2812 in
vscode and do alt-X nothing happens.

I don't know if this works in notepad++ in particular but an easier way with
many editors is to type the numbers then select them (using the usual arrow
keys + shift) then hit ALT+X.
Part of the problem with ALT+NumPad is that the numbers need to be entered in
either octal or decimal but all the Unicode charts are in hexidecimal.

My bad, I missed the example.
For example if you hold Alt and while holding it, press "1" on the
NumPad, it directly writes "☺"
(I wrote this character with the same technique here)

Hi Ken,
No, there's no need to press Numlock key with Alt separately.
Just press the unicode numbers on the numpad while holding Alt+
For example,
If you hold Alt and press "1" on the numpad (no matter numpad is on
or off, it writes the unicode char in the editor)
I very frequently use this technique with VS Code and Notepad++ both.
Please try this.
Would love to help further.

I use an older editor for a large amount of my coding. I am working

I am looking for the editor that makes inputting Unicode characters
easiest. I have tried several but so far nothing is simple. For
example
Notepad Plus Plus the instructions say do:
Alt+ numpad + followed by the Unicode
I get an error when I do this. Well when I do alt+ num pad Plus it
beeps. With the windows error sound. I have no problem putting in
ascii characters by number but when I try Unicode on ntoePad plus
plus it fails.
Same for VS Code.
If you want to input a braille dot Unicode like 2821 or 2812 or
something in a a windows editor what editors would you use and what
is the easy way of entering them by number.
