David Not that I can offer much solace but I get this happening (without JAWS running) when I open a Word attachment from within Outlook. The original email message seems to retain focus and masks the Word document - not always though! I still haven't figured out how to cure it. Since installing and running JAWS 8.0, I find that starting applications very often results in the new window opening behind the currently active one. As I didn't think JAWS should be in a position to affect such behaviour, I was loathe to blame it. But switching back to JAWS 7.0, I found the behaviour stopped completely. Resuming use of JAWS 8.0 has brought the problem back again. A simple example is starting the Windows calculator. I assigned a shortcut key of ctrl+alt+C to start it, and when running JAWS 8.0, hitting that key almost always results in the calculator window opening behind the active window. Yet when I do the same while running JAWS 7.0, it always opens on top as the active window. Has anybody else observed this? And if it isn't a JAWS problem, does anybody have any suggestions as to what might be causing it? Thanks.
