Indentation alerts are a screenreader thing, I would say, not so much something
VS COde can do all that much about, and yes, we do have some third-party addons
that help with this.. I t might be a good idea to add a page to the
accessibility docs that lists some VS Code extensions that augment VS Code for
screen reader users. IndentNav comes to mind, but I think there's a couple
others as well.
I honestly know very little about VS Code with VO, so I'll let others chime in
for now, but will take a quick look at it tomorrow on my mac as well to see
what jumps out at me.

VoiceOver doesn't provide indentation alerts, so that would be one thing to
consider. We have a third-party solution, indent beeper I think the project is
called, but there are probably folks that don't know about this.
