What angle is she taking the picture at?  I would expect a straight
top down shot to not do so good, but at 45 degrees to horizontal (and
maybe rotated a little also) I would expect the pins to show up quite
a bit better.

You aren't necessarily trying to get a shot where someone could decode
the braille, you are trying to get a shot that shows the pins.
