I see. From what I understand, the problem originated with Avast, and not
with MSE.

Ok just to clarify, the wireless problem is that it doesn't function 
under avast, some filter blocked it which I couldn't resolve. Plus the 
lame winmodem in the gateway computer has to be restarted regularly to 
allow wireless pc's the ability to connect.

MSE updates smoothly in the background and has picked up one rootkit 
avast repeatedly missed.
