same here - everything seemed to go into that folder. Now, I 
have norton anti-spam (because it was free) and it created 
it's own folder, and 99% of the spam goes in to it. I still 
check it before I delete it, and I still get a few spams in 
to my main in box, but it isn't so bad.

I used to have a lot of message rules and blocked senders 
but I found that I
had to monitor that list as well or I would miss some mail I 
really wanted
to get.  I finally just changed so I no longer had the view 
pane and quickly
dispose of anything I know to be Spam.
