It may or may not be related.  If you did a normal shutdown and let 
everything spin down before unplugging it all, I would say there is no 
connection.

If the noise is coming from the rear of the computer I would first suspect a 
fan.  If from the front I would suspect a drive first.

It might be as simple as a small piece of paper or plastic wrap got caught 
up in a fan or the grill covering it.
