Maybe I'm missing something here. If you use WinZip in the traditional mode (I
never have used the Wizard), all you have to do is find the zip file and right
click on it and select "extract here" or "extract to" and specify the path.
WinZip will extract the files to the appropriate location. From there you
simply double click on the main file......the other is a text file that shows
the registration information for the program. Double clicking the main file
will start the installation. When you're done, you can add the registration
info if required. Some programs install with it in the program, others seem to
need the manual installation of the registration data.

I followed the above and the macro program installed easily. The only
difference in my actual installation is a couple of steps are eliminated when I
use Total Commander as a file manager.....it can open a zip file by itself.

I would rather have "everyone" exercising their rights - felons included -
than
none of us. This notion that government can decide under what conditions we can
exercise our rights is another "lawyers shell game", something taught in law
school and "civics" classes to condition the citizens to their chains.

| Bonnie,
| Unfortunately, it sounds like WinZip has managed to isolate you
| from the Activate.exe file in this instance. By default, WinZip's
| Wizard interface is designed to automatically present you with any
| file it finds named Install.exe, Setup.exe or something similar.
| Since Activate.exe is not on this list of possible installation
| files, you were basically cheated from seeing it. It is for this
| reason that I never run WinZip in Wizard mode. I want/need to see
| all of my options.
|
| The only way around this is to change the way WinZip handles
| compressed files that include one of the filenames that ARE on its
| list. Of course, this means that you will need to learn another
| (almost too easy) way of using WinZip. If you're game for such an
| adventure, instructions are included below. I am currently using
| version 10.0, so my directions are based on that. If you have a
| different version, the specifics should be extremely similar, if
| not identical. :O)
|
|
| Since you use a specific folder (and not your desktop) as a catch-
| all for the stuff you download (an excellent approach, I might
| add), you should have a shortcut either on your desktop or in your
| QuickLaunch bar that you can use to open it quickly. You may have
| one already, but it would be foolish of me to assume something
| like that.
|
| Once you open up your downloads folder and locate the Zip file,
| use your Right mouse button to grab and drag the file just a short
| distance to the right. When you let go of the mouse button, you
| will be presented with a context menu that includes actions you
| can take using WinZip. Choose the one that says something to the
| effect of "Extract to folder D:\Downloads\filename". As an
| example, if your downloads folder is located just inside the D:
| drive (D:\Downloads) and the file's name is stuff.zip, the line
| will say "Extract to folder D:\Downloads\stuff". After clicking
| on that line in the menu, a new folder will be created using the
| name of the file as the name of the new folder. You can now enter
| that folder and see ALL of the files that were included in the
| compressed file. If the compressed file was made from folders and
| subfolders, you will also get to see the exact nestling of these
| folders the way the creator intended them to be. Most
| importantly, you will not be shielded from seeing anything that
| you need to see, such as an Activate.exe file or the very
| important Readme.txt type files that are included with most of
| these sorts of downloads.
|
| I should also mention that the WinZip program interface will not
| open when you follow this method of getting to the files inside a
| Zip file.

| | GMan,
| | These are the steps I always use.
| | Download from web site to a download file on my D partition Go
| | to where it is and click the zip file and winzip opens and I
| | follow the winzip steps. I have it go into my D drive program
| | file.
| | I go through the install program and when it shows the popup

| |
| | The install goes to a web page on what to do next and I close
| | it out I think a window comes up that says it is acutivated or

| | | | Judith,
| | | | This is how I have always downloaded and installed the
| | | | giveaaway of the day.
| | | | It just did not have the popup box that it normaly has
| | | | that gave me the name GiveAwayOfTheDay and a registration
| | | | number. So I redid the install and
| | | | also when that did not work I download again and
| | | | installed as still no pop up Bonnie
