yeah - but I don't actually have it on this computer - I just hoped I could
maybe download them to a folder to transfer to the new puter, before it went
online. I'll assum the new download is fairly up to date....

Yes, you can transfer the update(s) from one pc to another.  Just copy
the UPDATE subfolder.  Then you will have to open AVG (desktop icon) to
enable the update(s), then Exit.  You may have to do this multiple
times, depending on the Release Date of the Virus Database.
