My choice was a Netgear MR314 wireless router. Truly plug n play. My
Toshiba laptop has built in Wi Fi and a cable goes to the old Tower. I
can now go anywhere around the house or yard with the laptop and it has
never failed, but I have heard some horror stories about other
manufacturers. Sorry to hear Re-Na is not having much fun with the
connections.

Since I have been wireless, have found that two Ids on Yahoo messenger
is a quick way to share files. I just zip and send from one ID to the
other (until the budget will allow a 1 gig zip pen).

Maybe it is distance, or it might also be a radio frequency source
nearby, or metal structure in the building acting like a Faraday cage.
In either case, you would need to be much closer to get any contact,
preferably with no wall in between. On the other hand, if your router is

also acting as a hub, put a 10baseT straight cable from the LAN card to
it and share over that. Note: If your operating system has the NETBEUI
protocol, use it. Sharing is heaps easier with it that trying to
configure TCP/IP.
