I just got an email from the expert who wrote the article at www.spywareinfo.com/articles/hijacked/prevent.php, and even he didn't know about OE automatically "opening" messages (i.e. processing junk in them even though the messages don't open in a new window) even with the preview pane shut off. He also accepted my suggestion to add the following change to his list of things to help make IE at least a bit more secure (even though it's still a far cry from the security, speed, and fun of using Firefox): Scripting / Active Scripting: Enable=>prompt Basically, this is all you need to do: www.spywareinfo.com/articles/hijacked/prevent.php At www.net-integration.net/forums.html they specifically say that they can understand people who post without reading the FAQs etc. first. At http://forums.spywareinfo.com they don't seem to be so understanding of people who don't do some reading first. They've got some great info there: www.spywareinfo.com/articles/hijacked/prevent.php http://forums.spywareinfo.com/index.php?showtopic=227 www.spywareinfo.com/articles/hijacked/#removal -------list-services-below----------- Regards, John Durham (list moderator) <http://modecideas.com/contact.html?sig> Freelists login at //www.freelists.org/cgi-bin/lsg2.cgi List archives at //www.freelists.org/archives/pchelpers PC-HELPERS list subscribe/unsub at http://modecideas.com/discuss.htm?sig Latest news live feeds at http://modecideas.com/indexhomenews.htm?sig Good advice is like good paint- it only works if applied.
