Thanks for the attempt to help Deb,
I was looking for directions on how to stop Thunderbird from automatically
bringing my messages in. This will keep me from effectively using Mailwasher
if I use Thunderbird. There doesn't seem to be a setting anywhere to do
this. Besides, Thunderbird is ugly and hard to read. It has a preview pane I
can't turn off either. Looks like they'll have to do more work on it before
it replaces my Outlook Express.

is a setting to be activated or not activated (checked and not checked)
regarding checking for new messages every so many minutes.
If you have that, perhaps you can change that setting and get results.
I am not familiar with Thunderbird. I thought that was a car. :-0

The Thunderbird program gets my mail periodically even though I didn't
tell it to. I only want my mail to come in when I send for it. How can I
make it stop? This is a simple matter in Outlook Express. I cannot find
a setting that does what I need.
