Bob, Scott, Ekhart No, the files I referred to were created and named by the user and were not only the OE default files. The path is: "C:\Documents and Settings\Henry\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{CD0EC70E-2AE9-42B5-958A-DC9BB6F9BD14}\Microsoft\Outlook Express". I have no way of determining the OE version, but in all probability it was v 5 as he did no upgrades that I know of. To do an upgrade may be problematic as his drive was acting up before he contacted me. It won't boot up in my machine as a master drive. The only way I can see what's on the drive is to use my second removable HDD tray and boot up from my master drive. The suggestion that they may be read only is very valid........just checked that out and they certainly are! Will have to transfer them to his HDD this coming Sunday and remove the read only attributes. Will keep the forum posted as to the outcome.
