No one has said anything about this. If today is the deadline for the pins,
let’s just go ahead with what we always do this year, and talk about this at
the MO deciding for a possible change next year.

I suggest we discuss this at the MOM in March, unless we get a lot of email
response this week to Terri and Alex's suggestion. Take care, Sam

Alex,
What i like about this
, let there be one award, the Most Valuable Member award, a trophy or plaque
with the name and year engraved on it. Spend a few minutes extolling the
virtues of this year’s winner and tell us why he or she won.
Is that we can change up who wins each year. So, if Bubba wins this year,
maybe Rex will win next year. I like this idea.
PAS Members, what are your thoughts on this plan. It is also less work to
make this happen then to do the Awards Ceremony the way we have in the past.

Terri,
You sent out a call for Award Ceremony categories a week or so ago. I have an
idea.
Let’s do away with the Awards Ceremony and replace it with a Member
Appreciation celebration. Instead of a multitude of awards and a table full
of gifts, let there be one award, the Most Valuable Member award, a trophy or
plaque with the name and year engraved on it. Spend a few minutes extolling
the virtues of this year’s winner and tell us why he or she won.
Then, open up the pizza boxes and do a slide show of the year’s events.
Afterward, play a really good sci-fi movie for anyone who wants to stay and
watch it. (I will have an “Arrival” DVD by then and I'll be happy to bring it
along.)
Give awards for best costume at the Halloween Party. Give the best tee shirt
and darts winner awards at the Social Event. (I was never sure why there has
to be an engraved name on a darts trophy, this being an astronomy club.) Be
sure to include photos of these winners in the slide show.
Too radical? Maybe so. Let’s talk about this at the MOM in March.
