Terri, let's discuss Alex's idea and anyone else's idea at the MOM's. The MOM's
is more than 5 weeks before the Awards Ceremony. I suggest you order NSN pins
if today is the last day. Sam

If you are going to discuss it at the MOM In March, it is too late to order the
NSN Pins, so i guess i will order the pins anyway, and we will have a mini
awards ceremony, and then the main attraction that Alex suggested, if eveyrone
is in agreement with this idea.

Alex,
What i like about this
, let there be one award, the Most Valuable Member award, a trophy or plaque
with the name and year engraved on it. Spend a few minutes extolling the
virtues of this year’s winner and tell us why he or she won.
Is that we can change up who wins each year. So, if Bubba wins this year, maybe
Rex will win next year. I like this idea.
PAS Members, what are your thoughts on this plan. It is also less work to make
this happen then to do the Awards Ceremony the way we have in the past.

Terri,
You sent out a call for Award Ceremony categories a week or so ago. I have an
idea.
Let’s do away with the Awards Ceremony and replace it with a Member
Appreciation celebration. Instead of a multitude of awards and a table full of
gifts, let there be one award, the Most Valuable Member award, a trophy or
plaque with the name and year engraved on it. Spend a few minutes extolling the
virtues of this year’s winner and tell us why he or she won.
Then, open up the pizza boxes and do a slide show of the year’s events.
Afterward, play a really good sci-fi movie for anyone who wants to stay and
watch it. (I will have an “Arrival” DVD by then and I'll be happy to bring it
along.)
Give awards for best costume at the Halloween Party. Give the best tee shirt
and darts winner awards at the Social Event. (I was never sure why there has to
be an engraved name on a darts trophy, this being an astronomy club.) Be sure
to include photos of these winners in the slide show.
Too radical? Maybe so. Let’s talk about this at the MOM in March.
