Terri, Ordering the NSN pins can still be done today, if you wish, it is the
rest of the Awards ceremony that should be discussed at the MOM. Take care, Sam

Alex,
Unfortunately, if we are doing this idea for this year's awards....
i have to pin it down today, as today is the deadline to order
the NSN Pins.
Too radical? Maybe so. Let’s talk about this at the MOM in March.

Do we want to do this for this year?
i haven't ordered anything yet for the awards ceremony.
I just started putting things together for it.
I'm willing to do that
give me input today. As i have to put in the for the NSN pins by end of day
today if i'm going to order any.
I like this idea Alex.
And we can vote on who is the one to win.
I love this idea: Member Appreciation celebration.
Is there anyone who is really wanting to have the Awards Ceremony as we have
had it in the past, or can we go forward with Alex's idea?

Terri,
You sent out a call for Award Ceremony categories a week or so ago. I have an
idea.
Let’s do away with the Awards Ceremony and replace it with a Member
Appreciation celebration. Instead of a multitude of awards and a table full of
gifts, let there be one award, the Most Valuable Member award, a trophy or
plaque with the name and year engraved on it. Spend a few minutes extolling the
virtues of this year’s winner and tell us why he or she won.
Then, open up the pizza boxes and do a slide show of the year’s events.
Afterward, play a really good sci-fi movie for anyone who wants to stay and
watch it. (I will have an “Arrival” DVD by then and I'll be happy to bring it
along.)
Give awards for best costume at the Halloween Party. Give the best tee shirt
and darts winner awards at the Social Event. (I was never sure why there has to
be an engraved name on a darts trophy, this being an astronomy club.) Be sure
to include photos of these winners in the slide show.
Too radical? Maybe so. Let’s talk about this at the MOM in March.
