Never seen (or heard of till now) a Capon.
It’s not usual to see the high quality of bird in Oz I’ve seen OS in Spain (and
in France on TV) – ie Big yellow skinned chickens not wrapped in plastic.
Though we can buy free range (wrapped in plastic).
Cheers
Steve

hmmm
found out that the UK has since banned capons, and there are calls for them to
be banned from the US market too.
That is probably why you do not see so much of it nowadays in your
supermarkets, Hal?
Not sure why it is in the Singapore market - Asian palates tend to prefer
darker to white meats, so the market is small.
They are only sold in a chain of higher end Supermarkets so definitely not sold
in bulk.
Do any of you see any Capons in Australia or Spain?

No. A capon is a male chicken that has been “fixed” , As a result that get
fatter and are a great meal. Just found this on the web.
A capon is a special type of chicken created to make the meat more tender and
less gamy. It is a rooster that has been castrated before reaching sexual
maturity, which improves the quality of the meat; after that, it is fed a rich
diet of milk or porridge.

A capon is just a more mature chicken than is usually sold?

of supermarkets - and find it so much tastier than turkey!

Now that I finally made to 81 (Jun 9th) I can look back at a lot of “old days”.
Well Capon is one of those. Back in the old days it was a common food in most
of the larger grocery stores. Today, it is gone in the four larger grocery
stores in this area. If it was available in a small store and they had them, I
would buy a couple just to have them in the freezer. Hal
