So like you I had decided to make Jambalaya!!
I'm making John Folse's New Years Day Jambalaya...
Andouille, Ham, Black-eyed Peas, Cabbage are the main ingredients.
AS you say the Black-eyed Peas are meant to bring good luck, the
Cabbage is for financial good fortune. Can't get black-eyed Peas
here except through a specialist U.S. foods importer and they have
been out of stock for months. So I'm using Borlotti Beans.
About to start chopping and cooking right now.

Ok…I guess a little poll time again.
Are there foods where you live that you fix on New Years day for good luck for
the next year?
Here in the US South, it is black-eyed peas, and some form of greens….luck and
money I think are the two respectively.
What about where you live?
I got stuff to make Hoppin’ John, which is basically a form of jambalaya with
black-eyed peas in there. I”m starting from dried beans this time, so, I’m
trying to research how to cook them and for how long, to figure out how much
rice to put in and when so that it all comes out cooked together.
I’m thinking I might do a nice salad for the greens part……
