Hi David,
   1. If the other Overture tests from check.p work then I would not worry
about the error below for asmo.cmd

   2. The function "_gfortran_transfer_real_write" should supposedly be in the
gfortran library. If the Overture programs
linked ok then they must have found this function then. One difference
with cg is that it links to the lapack and blas
libraries. Did you compile and install lapack and blas with the same
version of gfortran as you used for Overture?

  3. You might also want to look at the Ubuntu install instructions from
Mohammed:

http://mabouali.wordpress.com/2012/01/16/installing-overture-on-a-freshly-installed-ubuntu/

Regards,
  Bill

i have installed overture and it seems to work, at least the checks, tests

    gridsFromCad.out

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
    ERROR return rt=256

the log file shows that there is no not sure how significant this is or
what it indicates, but something is wrong as i can't make any of the files from
cg as i get errors for a whole host of
    other undefined references such as

    /home/dave/Code/Overture/Overture.v24/lib/libOverture.so: undefined
reference to `_gfortran_transfer_real_write'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
    make[1]: *** [/home/dave/Code/Overture/cg.v24/common/bin/checkCheckFiles]
Error 1
    make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/dave/Code/Overture/cg.v24/common'
    make: *** [libCommon] Error 2

is this a problem from the compilation of overture or a problem in the
linking of cg with overture? as cg uses the make.options settings from overture
i doubt it. i have copied over the defenv
file from overture and load that before compiling so that the environmental
variables are the same, but could this be a problem. my set up is

    hdf5-1.6.5,
    mesa-7.5.1
    perl (v5.12.4)
    gcc version 4.6.1 (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.6.1-9ubuntu3)

and i call the hdf5 and mesa directories directly. it looks similar to the
error reported here: //www.freelists.org/post/overture/cg-error

    thanks, david
