Hi

we just had a little discussion here about the following situation

When you backup a database (hot) with RMAN and specify keep forever Rman
will never delete the archives anymore (there is metalink articles about
this)
But if you are doing a hot backup you can not use the keep forever nologs
option as there won't be any logs to recover the database to a consistent
state.

I would have though you should be able to tell RMAN to backup the database
and archivelogs and keep that set forever, thus allowing you to restore and
recover to a constistent state (for instance year end backups).
There does not appear to be such a feature/clause.

Am I just not reading the docs correctly or is this really the case?
