How can convert the original db into standby instead of copying the files? Re-create controlfile as standby? Thanks "Parker, Matthew" <matthewp@xxxxxxxxxx> wrote: Depends on why you flipped from the original primary. If the original primary is still good you can convert it immediately back into a standby database, instead of copying the datafiles from the current primary. -----Original Message----- From: oracle-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:oracle-l-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Alex Sent: Thursday, October 07, 2004 12:44 PM To: oracle-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Rebuilding pimary db? Hello, I am testing standby failover techniques, and would like to make sure that I am following the right steps while rebuilding the primary db. After the failover is done, the ex-primary db can no longer be used, and so to re-create it, I copy all datafiles, online and archived redo logs, create standby controlfiles, and first create it as a standby db. Then I perform a switchover, fom the new primary to the newly created standby db, revesring the roles, am I right? Thanks! --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
