matter of fact ask about how he/she solves the Object-Persistence Impedance 
  really good article a few years ago on OTN about it, and I can't find it now. 
 but the above link is a quick summary.
  the nice thing is that these tools support independence/specialization.  you 
can just as easily read in the existing db model and map it to your own objects 
as you can generate the less than optimized model based on your application's 
single object viewpoint.

foreign keys in your design, or do you prefer to handle the logic within the
