MySQL *can* be a competitor for Oracle, but it needs to mature a LOT = before it becomes <insert buzzword here>-ready. That being said, my = e-mail from home runs off of MySQL. :) I still think PostreSQL is out in front of MySQL for features at least. = I really need to install that one of these days... Yes, you are right, MySQL has nothing like = clustering. As for competing with oracle, it doesn't necessarily have to be on = technical merits, it can compete on the price. If you don't need RAC (I believe it = was Cary who wrote an article with the title like "What is RAC and why you = probably=20 don't need it", but I haven't finished my 2nd cup of coffee yet), then = MySQL is a formidable competitor. --=20 Mladen Gogala ---------------------------------------------------------------- Please see the official ORACLE-L FAQ: http://www.orafaq.com ---------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe send email to: oracle-l-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx put 'unsubscribe' in the subject line. -- Archives are at //www.freelists.org/archives/oracle-l/ FAQ is at //www.freelists.org/help/fom-serve/cache/1.html -----------------------------------------------------------------
