Hi All,
Just in case you are not aware of the following:

The RMAN CONVERT command converts data files and tablespaces between platforms,
even different endians. This allows TTS to move data between supported
platforms.
http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/10g/rman-enhancements-10g.php#cross_platform_tablespace_conversion
Only a full database conversion is not possible between endians. That doesn't
stop a piece-by-piece move though.

Thanks to Tim Hall for pointing it out.

Cheers,

Hi Ram,
As Amir has already pointed out, endian difference is not an issue for
Transportable Tablespaces. We have done TTS migrations from HP-UX to Linux on
x86/x86-64 with no issues. Again, according to the Wiki page -
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endianness), Linux on x86/x86-64 is little endian
versus HP-UX which is big endian.

Cheers,

Gaja

The endian difference is not compatible for Transportable Databases; it is
compatible for TTS.

Gaja
For TTS, doesnt the endianness of the platforms come into account? Linux is
Little endian and Solaris is big endian. I thought they would not be
compatible for TTS.
