Wyatt,

This would make a great abstract submission for the Scientific Session at the
OPS Annual Program in Chicago.

Why not write it up and submit it?

Tom,

I just finished adapting a Zeiss fixation stick from an FF3 to fit on my
Spectralis.
Made a sleve to adapt the Zeiss to fit into the Heidelberg's existing fixation
connection, and keep it from bottoming out on the LED.
Just a few zip ties, an a/c adapter form an external Zip drive and an inline
switch to shut off power.
Now I have a nice smooth fixation device with a red blinking target.

Tom,

I RARELY use the fixation device/s during angiography – I strictly use 'voice
activation'. Found it works a treat.
In the cases where an external one is needed, I keep my hand on it and acquire
the images with the fellow hand.

I simply tell patients to 'look straight ahead' not at the camera etc.

Have fun,

Ethan

Everyone,

Has anyone come up with a better solution to the external fixation device on
the HRA? Nice machine but the internal & external fixation sometimes doesn’t
work well when you want someone to look in a certain direction and hold that
fixation. Seems like during the pre computer age, the OPS membership had all
kinds of inventions to add or replace on imaging devices. Anyone got a better
mousetrap?

There are many other options for OPS credits: Mid Year meetings, CPMC Dept of
Ophthalmology Meetings, JCAHPO West Coast Meetings, JMC Eye Photo meetings, to
name a few.

CPMC is hosting a Disease and Disorder specific OCT course June 2 here in San
Francisco. JCAHPO just held a meeting in the LA area. With enough interest,
JMC Eye Photo would hold a meeting in Southern California as well.

CPMC also hosts an Annual Current Concepts in Ophthalmology the first weekend
in Dec. This will be our 12th year of doing so. This meeting is also eligible
for OPS credits.

Hope this helps.

Ben,

While the OPS has no control over where the Annual Program is held in
conjunction with AAO, we do have the ability to hold our Mid-Year program where
we'd like to. In 2013 the Mid-Year program will be held in San Francisco.
We'll be sure to announce the exact dates once they are known. You can see
additional information about future programs here:

http://www.opsweb.org/?page=futureprograms

Also, I have been under the impression that Chicago is a nice central location
that has easy flights to get to. Perhaps, you can find a way to attend the
2011 Annual program with just one flight.

I hope this helps,

Sarah

Hi, A question for the powers that be. The AAO, thus the OPS, will not be on
the West Coast for some time to come. 5 units of the total 15 must be from OPS
or OPS approved classes. Some of us may not want to part with the $$$ to go
cross country to attend the meeting. So we get to take online classes that are
a total waste of time. Is it possible that in the years that there is no West
Coast OPS stuff that attending more informative retina meetings or the like be
o.k. for the remaining 5 units just like they are o.k. for the first 10 units ?
Could this change be made ? Thanks, Ben Serar
