Those with more disposable cash than I have paid much more than the cost of an iPad for a Crestron system to control all aspects of their home theater system, from lighting, screen, and audio to DVD player control and source selection for the projector.
Given that Crestron makes Control Modules that are IP addressable, it would be a natural fit to replace the Crestron LCD touchscreen with an iPad and Crestron App.
