Correct. This was a valid issue for several decades. But the 24P frame
rate is still with us. You can claim this is nostalgia.

I also explained this to you many years ago. Standards are great, because they 
promote interoperability. But once a standard is adopted, it then works to slow 
down progress. This is also something you felt obliged to argue over, even 
though it's demonstrably obvious.

So yes, my point was that today, when we no longer need to limit ourselves to a 
barely adequate 24 fps, the artists have discovered that people associate the 
artifacts with movie-going fun, suspension of disbelief, storytelling, 
whatever. But this was never intended by the inventors. Much like people have 
come to like ketchup for what it is, as opposed to its original purpose of 
being a tomato sauce that wouldn't spoil so fast.

Simple point, really. If the history of film, in some parallel universe, had 
not had that 24 fps standard, people would have waxed verbose about whatever 
antique standard that did apply, in that universe. I have no idea why you felt 
obliged to wander all over the place, even mentioning something as thoroughly 
irrelevant and 720p vs 1080i.
