Wrong. It has created more money. That's why MVPD rates keep

No, Craig. The congloms can ask for ever-increasing amounts of money WITHOUT
the retrans consent pretend game. They simply ask for more money from whoever
distributes their content. The pretend game is pointless.
And the congloms are making more money than EVER.
Which only proves that the broadcasters are not keeping that retrans consent
money in their own pockets. The money can flow in a more logical way, without
anyone coming out the loser.
MVPD subscribers continue to pay their MVPD, which in turns gives the money
directly to the congloms, and to the local broadcasters for their local
news/weather content. The MVPD also keeps most or all of the ad revenue. OTA or
this future OTI "broadcaster" could do the same. They would pay less to the
conglom, since the MVPDs are already paying the conglom directly, the local
broadcasters keep the ad revenues, plus they can have a mix of by subscription
and ad-supported distribution, as they are already doing over the Internet.
If they take on the role of CDN for the local market area, the broadcasters
would be compensated for that, by the owners of the content. A new revenue
stream.
And more. "Channels" like HBO, ShowTime, Starz, and ESPN, can operate exactly
the same way. Just like the local broadcasters, in this more logical model.
They don't depend on the walled garden anymore, already now.
as you're buddy Les says: "eventually!"
Eventually is today, for Moonves. He is already using a mix of FOTI and
by-subscription Internet.
