[opendtv] Sardegna analog switchoff has begun

This morning at 3 AM local time, the Cagliari "county" of the island of
Sardegna (Sardinia), as well as parts of three other counties, have
begun analog switchoff. Three programs, including one of the RAI
channels, are now all digital. The rest of Sardegna is expected to go
all digital by March of next year.
I wonder if this gradual approach, also used in Germany, isn't better
than cold turkey.
