Hardly grasping at straws. It's a simple ergonomic design question. Wouldn't 
someone who designed a mouse, TV remote, or keyboard, be considered clueless if 
those devices required the user's focused attention? The answer is yes.

For some reason, if you turn a tablet into an overpriced remote, you don't stay 
on topic.
